Solid Rock First Haitian Community Center: Since October 2010, Solid Rock First Haitian Tabernacle of Grace has been actively involved in Mount Olive, Fayetteville, Lumberton in NC. The Eastern NC has seen tremendous growth of the Haitian population migrated from FL to NC who has been particulary hit by the crisis economic.

Desperated to keep their loved ones in Haiti and in the US in good shape after the overwhelmed earthquake that hit Haiti in January 12, 2010, the Haitian people have moved to Mount Olive looking for a source of income to provide to their loved ones.

That move did not go without challenges. One Sunday afternoon, we received a special guess who came to Raleigh seeking assistance from the Pastor of Solid Rock who went immediately to assess the condition of the people. His report was overwhelmed and we could not continue our daily lives ignoring what was happening there. Our first self-assessment was really devastating, it was a never seen before, where over 40 people living under one roof in United States of America, from closets to the bathrooms there were no differences. People were sleeping everywhere without bed, heather, and proper hygiene.

From that point forward, Rev. Erilus St. Sauveur, Founder & Senior Pastor along with Evangelist Paulette Bekolo have been advocating, raising awaraness, seeking resources, and supporting the community. They have been received graciously by the First Baptist Mount Olive, Dr. Dennis, and Dr. Paul Langston, Director of the Eastern Baptist Association.

They formed a solid partnership to better overcome the situation. They organized meetings with local authorities, the Mayor, Town Manager, Congressman, Council, Mount Olive Community College, etc. The whole community of the First Baptist Mount Olive had worked diligently to provide resources to the people in a short term.

However, the struggle continues for Rev. St. Sauveur and Evangelist Bekolo to deal on a daily basis with individual needs of the community in support of their integration and smoothing their transition. In addition of providing spiritual worship services, they are providing with no resources translation, interpretation services, transportation, counselling, ESL, Driver Aides, housing, issues at the workplace, and other services in all areas.

Ever since both Rev. St. Sauveur and Evangelist Bekolo, the keys Community Leaders do not pass one day without interventions to the community in their struggles and, they are the points of contact for all concerns about the people in Mount Olive, Fayetteville, and Lumberton.

They are also working with the North Carolina Justice Center offering workshop to educate and inform the people about their legal rights at the workplace and housing issues.

Please contact us to learn more about the outstanding work we are doing and the development of the Haitian Community in Eastern North Carolina and in the Triangle areas.

Haiti
• Solid Rock has churches in: Carrefour; Moinsard, Anse-A-Veau; Cabarret.

Current Projects: Schools/Hospital: Under construction in Moinsard, Anse-A-Veau

Solid Rock took a team of 12 missionaries in May 2011 to Haiti to do their own self-assessment about the current situation in Haiti. Their own experience brought them back speechless about the situation in Haiti. They discovered great people with unexplained needs. Once they got back to the states, they started initiated their own ways to see how they could bring relief to the people in Haiti.

School: Currently we have over 100 registered children in Moinsard, Anse-A-Veau ready to start school for the firts time.  The youth is the future, invest in their lives today is preventing natural catastroph from happening. Please join us to take actions and help them become self-sufficient.

Health Care Clinic: We will start out with a three days free clinic to the community in November 2011. The entire community is totally ignored and abandonned. The mortality infantile rate is extremely high because of lack of basic health care screenings. People died every day from basic headadche often blamed on bad spirits. However, the real reason is just that the people don’t have access to any screening.

Socio-Economic Development: This is our goal to offer a small micro loan to the people to assist them building self-sufficiency. Based on our assessment, there are resources in the community that could take the people out of poverty. But, they need the support.

Infrastructure: It took us over two hours for a normal five minutes driving distance to get to the church in Moinsard because of the roads condition. The community came together, men, women, kids to use their own mines in order for the car we were riding to get to our destination. This project is very little and can really get done with your support.

Please contact us at: pastor@solidrockfirsthaitian.org and / or 919-802-5773 – 919-610-2883 if you want to join our team and make a difference in the lives on the people.
